My name is Altino Alexandre, but my friends call Alex. I’ve been living in the Bay Area for about a year and a half. I was born in Brazil in a family where my father was a businessman in the marketing field and my mother was an art school teacher. Having grown up in an environment with both worlds, art, and business, I believe that helped shape me into the designer I am.
In 2008 I started my bachelor's in Industrial Design. Right from the beginning, I started working in the field. At my last job, I started as an Industrial Design Intern. The company I interned for had the name changed from Paradesign to Estudio 566 and added the Graphic Design to be a full design consultancy. Estudio 566 gave me the opportunity to grow for a few years and transition to Junior level and eventually up to Mid-level.
In my last three years, I was working on Industrial Design projects focused on product engineering and manufacturing for the consumer electronics industry, from idea to final product. I was also the project manager in a graphic design project for three years, where the Brazilian government gave graphic design interventions to three thousand small companies and provided them with new ways to improve the experience for their clients.
In 2014, I co-founded Ipsilon Design, a furniture design company focused on the e-commerce market. In just a couple of years, the company developed 60 different furniture pieces and won several design awards.
I’m curious about consumer behavior as well as an enthusiast of new business ideas. Although I already worked in the field for a couple of years and have my own business, I couldn’t help but still feel limited. I needed to get out of my comfort zone. I’m always trying to improve my design thinking and skills in the field. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Industrial Design at the Academy of Arts, and open to opportunities to collaborate with established or emerging companies in the Bay area.
